Growing in Medicine

Updated: Feb 6

This week in Independent Study Mentorship Class, I completed setting up my Linkedin Profile and was able to make around 65 connections with people all around the district, most of which include ISM students. I also finished my digital portfolio and I plan to use it in the future to document all of my research, interviews, and all the information I gather throughout my mentor visits and experiences in the office. In the next week, I will finalize my 15 interview questions to present in a couple of different interviews with doctors including nephrologists, dermatologists, and my own pediatrician. I will also be completing my Research Assessment #1 this week to gain more knowledge on my topic. I hope to interview Dr. Usha Peri, a nephrologist at the North Texas Kidney Foundation and other doctors in different professions to find out what I truly want to continue with as my topic in ISM I this year. For tomorrow’s etiquette meal at Berries and Batter’s Brunch Cafe, I am looking forward to spending more time with my peers in ISM and also getting to know my ISM II student mentor a little bit more. I hope to learn a lot from this course and make more connections with people who are professionals in the study of medicine.
