This week in the Independent Study Mentorship Class, I worked on my Interview Assessment (with Dr. Usha Peri, a nephrologist) and my first Original Work Assessment. For my Original Work Assessment, I decided to research the risks of anesthesia along with symptoms people might experience due to age, illnesses already present, etc. This is one aspect of what I want to include in my Original Work, so I’m glad I was able to gain more insight on this topic. For my next Research Assessment, I am probably going to research the different types of anesthesia. This will help me understand how the surgeon, CRNA, and anesthesiologist come to the conclusion of what type of anesthesia is used for each individual patient. I know there are many factors that play into these decisions including age, illnesses present, etc. We also have our Research Presentation on Thursday; I am planning to make my slideshow revolving around different pictures and I just plan to talk from all the pictures. In my slideshow, I plan to include my interviews, how I chose my topic, and my journey so far in ISM. Other than ISM this week, I am also bombarded with tests, assignments, and extracurricular activities. It is going to be a long week and I’m already excited for the weekend.
